NJ HOSA Competitive Event Guidelines

IMPORTANT NOTICES:

We offer MIDDLE SCHOOL and POST-SECONDARY/COLLEGIATE events at the STATE CONFERENCE, not at the Regional conferences.

National HOSA UPDATES THE EVENT GUIDELINES ANNUALLY, IN AUGUST AND CAN MAKE CHANGES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR SO MAKE SURE TO CHECK THE EVENT GUIDELINES FREQUENTLY.

HOSA Handbook Section B: The General Rules and Regulations for each event is located in this part of the Handbook. Be sure to read this in its entirety before competing in any HOSA competitive events.

PHOTO ID- Check Appendix G at hosa.org website to see what is required and if a student does not bring a required document with them, a 35 point deduction will be made from the final score

NJ HOSA Dress Code- It is different from the National HOSA Dress code, please refer to njhosa.org website to see the NJ HOSA DRESS CODE.  A 5 point deduction is made from the final score for anyone who is not dressed according to the NJ HOSA DRESS CODE.  Anyone who is not dressed as per NJ HOSA DRESS CODE will be awarded a medal if they place but will not be allowed on the stage to receive their medal.

LEVEL 2 EVENTS- Please check the National HOSA site to see what is required for anyone with an IEP if they choose to participate in a Level 2 event. Anyone with an IEP can choose any event, but if they do choose a LEVEL 2 event, they must follow the requirements noted in this Appendix.
